Ropes Crossing student Kaiah Wong has qualified for the 2019 School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships, which will be held in Darwin this month.
The junior athlete was chosen to represent at the national championships in shot put, after attending the NSWPSSA Primary Schools Selections Trial at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre on the 8th of August.
“We are very proud to watch Kaiah compete in and enjoy athletics. She has a great passion for the sport, and she enjoys achieving new heights, which is a joy to watch” said Heidi Wong, Kaiah’s mother.
Kaiah currently represents her local club, Mount Druitt Little Athletics and she competes in all athletics events in the Friday night competition. She specialises in both shot put and discus. For the last two years, she has also competed at the Little Athletics New South Wales (LANSW) State Athletics Championships.
“We can’t wait for Kaiah to compete at the Nationals this month. She is looking forward to seeing how she measures up against the rest of Australia. She is also excited to visit somewhere she has never been before” ended Heidi.
The Jordan Springs Gazette would like to wish Kaiah the best of luck at the Nationals.
