Mulgoa resident Josh Anderson, currently third in the Aussie Racing Car Championship, raced in this year’s SuperUte Series at Bathurst for the first-time last month.
“Getting to race at Bathurst as part of the Bathurst 1000 weekend is something I’ve been dreaming about my whole life” Anderson said. “It’s a dream come true”.
The iconic Bathurst track is known for being challenging and Anderson came into the event with some trepidation being well aware of how difficult the circuit is.
“Not only is racing at Bathurst somewhat daunting, it was also in a Toyota Hilux Ute, which is a car that I don’t usually race in”.
“But, over the weekend I gradually built my confidence on the track by taking it slowly and building up to it”.
Anderson qualified fifth, an excellent result on his first effort at the circuit.
The first race certainly threw Anderson in at the deep end with challenging wet conditions, but he performed well holding on to his starting position.
Race two saw Anderson improve his finishing position working his way into fourth place by the chequered flag.
After some intense battles amongst the top cars in race three, Anderson ended up in fifth position, giving him equal fourth on points for his SuperUte and Bathurst debut.
“It was a fantastic experience to race on one of the most famous tracks in the world” Anderson said. “Thanks to Sieders Racing for the opportunity to have such a great weekend”.
Back in the Aussie Racing Car for his next race, Anderson is still contemplating what his next goal is, but he knows he’ll definitely be racing into the new year.
