Emu Plains Public School have welcomed a new memorial garden and murals, thanks to the School P&C Committee, who used the funds from a grant that they received from the Department of Veterans Affairs to complete the project.
Emu Plains Public School P&C Committee President Alicia Pullen championed the project, organising murals, garden beds and a plinth. Alicia was able to source donated or discounted scaffolding and other trades, as well as the murals on both walls by a local artist. Emu feathers and an emu statue are included in the project.
The school had it’s first ceremony in the new garden on Remembrance Day and the students made poppies to adorn the garden and pay their respects.
“This project was much needed. It will now help keep the memories alive for the students” said Alicia.
