He’s been a valued member of the local school community for over a decade and next month will see Regentville Public School Deputy Principal, David Bamford retire from full-time teaching.

Mr Bamford started at Regentville Public School in 2007 and has spent the last 15 years at the school. He began teaching in 1981 as a casual teacher before commencing with the Department of Education in April 1984.

“The very first day of Teachers College, I knew it was the career for me” explained David to the Glenmore Gazette.

His teaching career would see him take up positions at Bidwill Public School, Faulconbridge Public School, Katoomba Public School, Jamisontown Public School and Regentville Public School.

“Like most people who have been associated with Regentville Public School, I am proud of our achievements and our long history of providing public education. I am inspired by the many people in our school community that I work with.

Regentville Public School will always have a place in my heart. I am proud to say that I am part of the Regentville Public School community” he reflected on his time at the school.

Having taught hundreds of students at Regentville over the years and, in some cases two generations, Mr Bamford has many favourite memories of his time there.

“I have enjoyed building strong working relationships with students and their families and meeting new students and parents every year, helping them to feel part of our school community. The 150 Year Celebration Day on 26 September 2018, Year 6 Canberra and Snow Trips, Year 5 Deer Park Camps, Year 4 Yarramundi Camps and P&C Discos all standout” he said.

So, what are Mr Bamford’s plans when he steps away from teaching?

“Spending time with my wife riding our bikes, kayaking, and travelling. Spending more time with my family and friends and playing more golf, lowering my handicap”.
